November to February is Lucknow's wedding season for good reason — and photographically it is the best light this city offers all year. Here is how we shoot it, and how to plan your functions around it.
The winter light advantage
Low sun all day means golden-hour quality for hours, not minutes. Skin tones warm up, lawns glow from mid-afternoon, and evening functions begin in blue-hour light that makes venue décor look its absolute best.
Fog: enemy or asset
December and January mornings bring fog — and handled well, it is a gift. Backlit fog turns a mandap into a glowing island and a baraat into cinema. We carry battery lighting to every winter wedding precisely for this; the frames it produces are unrepeatable in any other season.
Timing your pheras
If your pandit's muhurat allows flexibility, late-afternoon pheras (4–6 p.m. in December) land in the day's most beautiful light. Night pheras photograph beautifully too with proper lighting — but discuss timing with your photographer before locking the schedule.
Outfits and comfort
Velvet, silk and heavier embroidery photograph richly in winter light and keep you warm through late functions. Brides: carry a shawl between functions — vidaai at 4 a.m. in January is no joke, and comfort shows in photographs.
Book early — earlier than you think
Peak winter Saturdays are the first dates to go each season; serious studios are reserved six to twelve months ahead. If your wedding falls between November and February, start photographer conversations the moment dates are fixed. Check your date with us.
